Here's a little history about my Railroad.
The Gulf South Rail Corp. is my fictional private road, primary operations are hauling Appalachian coal from the mines to the power plants.
Other industries include; grain transport, gravel & slag hauling, a small logging operation & some general freight traffic.
Also a small passenger operation takes it's place on the line.
I model the Southern Rwy & Clinchfield RR, along with their subsidary lines & interchanges with the NW & C&O.
Time period modeled is late 1950's thru the early 1970's.
Where F Units & Geeps rule the line, with just a touch of steam & early 6 axle motive power thrown in.
I'm using Atlas Code 80 track,
I havent made up my mind on turnouts yet. It'll be either Atlas Custom line or Peco Small, Code 80.
The lower level loop radius is 9.75", the upper level is a mix of 11" with some 19" thrown in to ease the turn out in the middle of the curve. The rest is all 11".
The line makes 3 loops around before before returning to the start.
There will be a coal mine on the upper level & a logging operation on the lower level.
The main layout is 2.5 X 5 feet.
Most of the industries, the yard, interchange track & engine facility will be on the upper level extinsion.
At this time all the other industries are undecided.
The final plan will be a "L" shaped layout.
The extinsion will be 1.5 X 4 feet.
After our latest unscheduled move, construction has started again
I'll post some photos when time allows.
