Hello

I want to introduce my freeware layout design editor, called SCARM, which you can download from www.scarm.info. It has lightweight and intuitive user interface, built-in 3D Viewer and many other cool functions and features.

There is a new website for collect together model train track plans and layouts in all scales and sizes, build with SCARM planning software:

Railroad Layout Designs & Track Plans

You can browse the projects in the site or search and filter the track plans by several criteria, such as “scale”, “size”, “trackage” and so on. Here are the most searched categories so far:

H0 gauge track plans (all sizes)
N scale layouts (all sizes)
Small train layouts & track plans (all gauges)

Every project has its own page, where it is presented with more pictures, described with many parameters (such as minimum radius, maximum grade, suitable traffic, etc.) and sometimes explained by me or by its author. All (or almost all) published layouts have corresponding SCARM files ready to be downloaded from the links at bottom in the layout’s page. There is also an option for each project to be rated with rating stars from 1 to 5 – this is located below the description. Voting system works without registration, but is limited to one vote per project from a visitor in order to make ratings relevant and correct.

The site is also optimized for smartphones and tables, so you can browse it almost anywhere and anytime. However, some pictures may not look very detailed on small phone screens, but in overall you can get a good impression even from 320×480 sized cell phones.

The new SCARM v. 0.9.34 is ready and published, coming with new and updated track libraries and also with a new extension - the brand new Model Trains Simulator.

Model Railroad Layout Designer SCARM 0.9.34 Released



The Starter Edition of the simulator is intended for simple 2D and 3D simulations of various operations on the track plans, designed in SCARM. It will show you how the model rolling stock can be operated on a real layout, before buying even a single track.



In this way, you can check the concept of your plan and to discover potential design issues before start the construction of a real layout. And like SCARM, this edition of the simulator is completely free

Please note: the simulator is not directly bundled into SCARM installer. If you want to test it, you must install the latest version of SCARM first and then to use "Extensions" > "Browse for Extensions" menu command in the program in order to download and install the required files.

The simulator opens a whole new world in the SCARM universe and I hope you will like it
